After an otterly good day out? Then, this might be just the ticket...

Chester Zoo is running a promotion where you can get £10 tickets if you visit after 2pm. The offer's valid all day, every day (including weekends) until Friday 10 July. The zoo is open daily until 5pm, with last entry allowed one hour before close.

You can get £10 tickets for adults, students and children – except one and two-year-olds – entry for them costs £2.50 with this deal.

No code is required, but you do need to book your ticket in advance online.

How good is this deal? This is a decent saving, as the cheapest price we spotted for full-day tickets is £34.21 from attraction website Love to Visit (if you have a Blue Light Card you can get an additional 5% off this ticket price).

While you’ll only get up to three hours at Chester Zoo with your afternoon ticket, you could visit three times for the price of one full-day ticket and still have change.

What’s at Chester Zoo? It’s home to over 30,000 animals (according to Chester Zoo, we've not counted ourselves) including a Komodo dragon, elephants, giraffes, lions, tigers, rhinos, orangutans, chimpanzees, lemurs, penguins, tropical birds and, yes, otters. Other draws include playgrounds, boat rides and animal talks.

What about the recently announced VAT cut on attractions? Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced a temporary VAT cut from 20% to 5% (for 25 June to 1 September) for attractions such as theme parks, zoos, and museums. However, because Chester Zoo is a registered charity, it doesn't charge VAT, so ticket prices are unlikely to be affected.
