McDonald's Monopoly 2025 – our tips & tricks for boosting your chances of winning

There are many versions of the classic Monopoly game these days (I would have to recommend the EastEnders version, personally...) but one that many fast-foodies look forward to each year is McDonald's Monopoly. If you're going to eat under the golden arches or order a McDelivery, this promo can be a fun way to score a 'free' bite to eat, or if you're lucky, something bigger.

McDonald's Monopoly is essentially a prize draw, where you collect stickers (it calls these 'game pieces') from the packaging of selected menu items, and you could win 'free' food, cash, or other prizes.

There are three ways to win:

  • Peel a 'instant win' physical sticker which gives you free food or drink to claim at the counter. McDonald's told us there's a one-in-four chance of an instant win, so this could be a good way to bag 'free' food.

  • Collect physical property sets, much like you would in a normal Monopoly game, to win a bigger prize.

  • Via digital entry in the McDonald’s app (free at the App Store and Google Play), which can result in a cash prize (£5 to £100), a digital instant win prize (food, McDonald’s merchandise, or vouchers), My McDonald’s Rewards points, another property, and finally even a McDonald's Gold Card

You can also scan your physical property stickers into the app where they'll be stored in a virtual wallet to help you keep track of your collection.

This promotion shouldn't be an excuse to sneak a Maccas meal into your five-a-day. However, many MoneySavers have told us they think of it as a bit of harmless fun, so if you'll eat there anyway, here's how it works and a few tips to boost your chances of a win.

How long is McDonald's Monopoly on for?

It's on now until Tuesday 21 October.

How does it work with physical stickers?

On selected McDonald's food and drink items, you'll find stickers attached which are either a property, or an 'instant win' food item.

McDonald's told us stickers can be found on these items: Medium and large cold drinks (from McDonald's cups, not bottles), medium and large fries, three and five Chicken Selects, Philly Cheesestack, Chicken Big Mac, large salad, McPlant, McSpicy, McCrispy, Mozzarella Dippers and Sharebox, blended ice drinks, McFlurry (core flavours), deli wraps, veggie wraps, breakfast wraps, plus regular and large McCafé hot drinks including Flat White.

A sticker will contain one of the following:

  • An 'instant prize win' sticker which gets you free food. You could win apple pies, cheeseburgers, chicken nuggets, fries, ice creams, hot drinks and more. Simply take your sticker to the counter to claim there and then, or before the expiry date shown on the sticker. There are millions of instant win food prizes, so this is your best chance of winning.

  • A Monopoly property sticker which helps you towards the big prizes. This is more akin to the classic Monopoly game, where you collect properties in their colour sets. If you're lucky enough to collect a full set, you can win a big prize, such as an LG TV, a holiday, or £100,000.

How does it work with digital stickers?

If you peel a physical Monopoly property sticker, scan it into the McDonald's app (you can only upload a maximum of 24 property codes per day per app account). Once you’ve scanned your property code, you can press 'Go' to see Grimace (McDonald's furry, purple mascot) race around a game board, just like the real-life version of Monopoly – only much quicker, mind.

The square you land on will lead to one of the following 30 outcomes (and possible prizes):

  • Property square (there are 26): landing here gets a property card.

  • Chance card (there are two): landing here means you could win cash, merch, prizes, or a McDonald's Gold Card which'll get you a free meal every week for a year at any McDonald's restaurant, which you can redeem through the My McDonald's app (these are obviously very rare and won't be easy to come by though).

  • Community Chest (there's one): landing here means you'll win My McDonald’s Rewards points.

  • Passing Go (there's one): you'll be awarded a £200 cash prize.

McDonalds prizes must be claimed by Tuesday 4 November 2025.

How can I increase my chances of winning?

While McDonald's Monopoly is very much a game of luck, there are some things you can do to increase your chance of a win.

1. Double your chances of winning via the McDonald's app

The app features a digital game board and prize wallet. As mentioned above, you can get a bonus 'digital peel' for free when you scan your physical property stickers into the McDonald's app – giving you more chances to win.

2. Keep a tight hold of rarely-found stickers

Within each set of properties, there is a rare or uncommon sticker. If you're peeling lucky and manage to find one of these, make sure you keep hold of it (or scan it into the app). The remaining stickers in the set will be much easier to find, giving you a good chance of winning the prize for that set.

Previously these have been the rare stickers to look out for (though McDonald's wouldn't confirm if these are the same this year):

3. 'Womble' unchecked stickers, such as picking them up off abandoned tables

You don't need to be Uncle Bulgaria to take advantage of the fact that not everyone who eats or drinks at McDonald's will be taking part in its Monopoly promotion and won't peel their stickers. We also know that not everyone disposes of their packaging in the bins provided, so look out for empty cups and other packaging that still has stickers attached. You may be able to find some free food instant wins, an online game code, or a property you need to get closer to completing a set. Of course, don't forget to properly dispose of any rubbish afterwards too.

It's worth noting that wombling is against some companies' T&Cs. We asked McDonald's for its stance and it didn't get back to us, though we've no reports of issues in previous years.

4. Be tactical with your order to ensure maximum stickered items

During the promotional period, it pays to be Mc-savvy with your order as not all menu items will contain a Monopoly sticker, including some popular ones. For example, if you fancy chicken, don't order the nuggets as they don't carry a sticker, whereas Chicken Selects do. If you're partial to a Big Mac, only the chicken version has a sticker, not the beef. We've listed the food and drink items you can find a sticker on above.

Use our McDonald's tricks to get food & stickers more cheaply

Look out for ways to get your food or drink cheaper so that you're saving money on what you would have bought anyway, plus playing the game to potentially get freebies – see our McDonald's MoneySaving hacks for ideas. For example, there's a trick to get a Big Mac and fries for '£2.99' – this will get you the same number of stickers as if you'd paid the normal price of about £7.
