Trip.com deals & discount codes
1 Current Deal
Via code. Requires you to purchase any train ticket to activate the railcard
A railcard can put you on the right track for some decent savings, especially if you take the train often, as these cards get you one-third off most rail fares. Railcards cost £35 for one-year or £80 for three years, but you can get them cheaper using a discount code.
If you've never signed up to third-party booking site TrainPal before, check this £9 off a one-year railcard deal, which makes 'em £26 – the cheapest we've seen.
But, if you're not new to TrainPal, the below Trip.com 25% off railcards deal is only slightly more expensive (by 25p). It'll make a one-year railcard £26.25, or you can get a three-year one for £60. If you aren't new to Trip.com, you can still get 10% off.
There are a couple of hoops to go through, as you also need to buy any train ticket (no minimum spend) to activate the railcard, but we explain how it works below.
Note: It's valid on a digital railcard (one that's stored on your phone) and it can only be accessed via the Trip.com app which you'll need to download. You can't transfer it to the official Railcard app after purchasing, nor can you add to your digital wallet (Apple or Android).
How the 25% off code works
-
Sign up for a free account at Trip.com*. If you're given the option to enter the code while signing up, you can – enter MSETRIPRC25 in the 'Promo code (optional)' box.
-
Once signed in, select the Account/Member icon and then 'Promo Codes'. Or in the app, go to the 'Account' tab and tap 'Vouchers & Promo Code'.
-
If you entered the code while signing up, your 25% off voucher will appear there. If you didn't, enter it in the 'Enter promo code' box ('Enter code' in the app) to add it to this section.
-
Go to the Trip.com digital railcards page* and choose the railcard you want. The discount should be automatically applied.
-
As mentioned above, you'll need to buy any ticket to activate the railcard. There's no minimum spend for this, and Trip.com doesn't charge a booking fee, so you could just buy the cheapest possible fare. If you don't activate your railcard, you'll be issued an automatic refund.
The code can only be used to buy one of the following digital railcards: 16-17 Saver, 16-25, 26-30, Family & Friends, Network, Senior, and Two Together. The offer excludes the Disabled Person's Railcard and Veterans' Railcard. The offer's limited to one railcard per account.
The code is valid until 11.59pm on Saturday 28 February.
Maximise the discount by getting 5% off your first train ticket purchase
In addition to the railcard offer above, you can also get 5% off your first UK train ticket purchase – so you could use this discount when buying the train ticket needed to activate your railcard when bought via Trip.com. Use the code MSETRIP5 which can be stacked with the railcard code above
You don't have to purchase a railcard to use the 5% off code – it's open to anyone new to Trip.com making their first UK train ticket purchase until 11.59pm on Saturday 28 February.
Existing Trip.com user? Get 10% off a digital railcard
The code MSETRIPRC10 gets a one-year railcard for £31.50 instead of £35, or £72 for three years instead of £80.

35% off Railcards via Trip.com
Requires purchase of any train ticket to activate the railcard
Update 1.12pm, Friday 28 November: The £1 railcards have been extremely popular and all sold out.
Third-party booking app Trip.com is offering a Black Friday deal of £1 one-year railcards (normally £35) via its app for new Trip.com customers only from midday on Friday 28 November.
There's no code needed but you'll have to be quick, as there are only 600 codes available, and we reckon this'll be popular. To activate the railcard you'll need to buy a train ticket too within 24 hours of purchase.
If you missed out, there's still a way to save....You can get 35% off one-year or three-year railcards with the code: MSERC35 until 11.59pm on Friday 28 November. With the code, this makes it £22.75 for one-year or £52 for three-years. You'll need to purchase a rail ticket on Trip.com within 30 days in order to activate your railcard.
Important: This deal is only valid for newbies to the Trip.com app (you can't redeem it online or if you're an existing customer). With this deal, the railcard can only be accessed via Trip.com's app – you can't transfer it to the official Railcard app after purchasing.
Railcards available include: 16-25, 26-30, Two Together, Network, Family & Friends, Senior and 16-17.

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford.

£100 off £500 flights at Trip.com
A big discount, but limited availability
Trip.com has revealed its Black Friday flight deals...
From Friday 28 November lasting until Friday 5 December, Trip.com is offering up to £100 off flights from the UK when you spend £500 or more. You can also get £50 off weekend getaway flights (with a £300 minimum spend), and £30 on shorter trips (with a £100 minimum spend).
Important: There’s a limited quota of 300 vouchers, available on a first-come, first-served basis. You must book via the Trip.com app to get this deal.
How good is this deal? Very good, which is probably why there's limited availability. Trip.com flights already tend to be competitively priced, and 20%-30% discounts off those are not to be sniffed at.
Any other ways to save on trains this Black Friday? Yes, Ryanair is running a 'Cyber Week' sale and Easyjet and Tui have also kicked off their Black Friday sales. More companies are bound to join in on the discounts, so if you miss out on this one, there'll be another round the corner.

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to check you’re genuinely getting the cheapest fare – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
What the * means above
If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
